Rain Therapy

My office is cozy, in a renewed part of our building. It has been raining all day, but I do not hear it in my office.  However, when I went to get a caffeine fix from the lobby soda machine, I heard the most beautiful sound.  The original roof over the lobby is a curved tin roof, left over from when the building had been an armory.  And the sound of the rain immediately relaxed my shoulder from their tense, over-a-computer “stuckness.”

I promptly unplugged my laptop from its dock and settling into one of the lobby armchairs.  What a soothing sound…

It is Thanksgiving.

There are so so many things for which to be thankful.  Family I love, who love me.  Amazing kids who make me so proud. And of course a loving little fur ball J

I eat every day; I have transportation to a job I love.  I have friends nearby and far away. My body is healthy, my mind alert, my sense of humor intact.  I sleep in a warm bed every night.  And God is always there…always…faithful and unchanging.

I can laugh at wit and cry at movies.  I can care and love and befriend. I know my flaws but also embrace my strengths.  Thank goodness for a strict minister years and years ago, who encouraged us to hide verses in our hearts and minds, so that we can recall them…

This I recall to mind, therefore I have hope; the Lord’s lovingkindnesses never fail.  They are new every morning…

Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning…

I have loved you with an everlasting love…

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me…

I will never leave you or forsake you….

There is much to be thankful for, always.
